The Winter Beast - Event Cancelled

The Winter Beast - Unfortunately, due to low entry numbers, this event has been cancelled. This was a tough decision to make but we will concentrate on The Beast on 1st March 2020. The Beast will remain as a 'Double or Quit' event but also include a Triple lap option for all you Beast lovers...

The Winter Beast is a Double or Quit adventure trail race of approximately 5 or 10 miles. The course includes steep hills, water, mud, 40 (ish) obstacles usually tackled by animals of a 4 legged variety, water, hills, a couple of surprises, oh and did we mention cold, possibly frozen, water.

Fancy a dirty and cold weekend? Then come and join us at The Winter Beast. With 40 (ish, who’s counting) jumps to tackle, 2 water splashes to wake you up, camouflage netting to squeeze under, lung busting hills including the famous Nessie hill to stagger up (and down) and not forgetting the 3 water wades to really finish you off. Can you tame The Winter Beast?

The Winter Beast takes place at Aylesford Equine X Country Course, Aylesford Farm, Shoby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE14 3PF, click here for Google maps. The course is well signed and located off the A6006, 5miles from Melton Mowbray and 1 mile from the Six Hills junction.

The Winter Beast will be held on Sunday 10th November 2019 - event cancelled.

Pre Race Briefing?

There'll be a Pre Race Briefing for ALL competitors at 10.45am at the start area to warn you of any additional hazards followed by a Warm Up. As it's Remembrance Sunday we will hold a 2 minute silence at the Start, with the race starting at 11.02am.

There'll be free on site parking for all competitors and spectators. Parking will be supervised by The Beast marshals.

There'll be drinks stations halfway round the course, at the start of the Double lap and at the finish with squash, water, coke, jelly babies and kind words...

First Aid?
First Aid will be available at the Start/Finish area and there will be mobile First Aiders on the course.

James Kirby is the official photographer for The Winter Beast. The photographs will be available to download for free from The Beast facebook page.

The Wolf Hut and Brockleby's Pies will be onsite to keep you fed and watered. They will be onsite from approximately 8.30am to provide breakfast for any runners arriving early.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the course, Emergency vehicle access and the fact that the surrounding land is privately owned (we only hire the actual course) we are unable to allow spectators onto The Beast course, although spectators are welcome to cross the new 'Warm Up' area of small jumps near to the Start/Finish; from here you'll be able to view the woods and 'Wine Glass' jump/water splash and have a play on the warm Up jumps (at your own risk, obviously). Please respect the marshals, the landowners and the course markings and remain behind the barriers at all times.

Key and Bag Storage?
Key and bag storage will be available at the Registration Trailer. Although any keys/bags left will be supervised throughout the duration of the event, Pure Personal Training Ltd cannot be held responsible for any loss of keys/property left at the Trailer.

Every finisher will receive The Winter Beast medal and technical event t shirt plus our infamous flapjack...

The first, second and third male and female runners to complete 1 lap (quit) and the first, second and third male and female runners to complete 2 laps (double) will receive a Beast trophy.

Tackling The Beast may seem a little daunting, but don't despair, there'll be toilets at the Start/Finish area. Please respect the surroundings of Aylesford Farm and use the loos provided.

There's a 'Field Shower' available to competitors in the car park. Okay, it's a hosepipe.

We advise the wearing of trail or fell shoes, however if you enjoy crawling up hills and sliding down them, road shoes will be just fine. Running spikes are not allowed.

The race results will be posted on the Results section of the website the day after the race.

We will be happy to offer a 50% refund of the entry fee up until 2 months prior to The Winter Beast or a transfer to another Beast event. After this time we regret that we will not be able to provide any refund or credit either in part or in full, whatever the circumstances of the entrants' non-attendance. Competitors are able to transfer their entry to another runner via the online entry system up until the entries close at midnight on Tuesday 6th November.

Finally, we all love a dirty weekend but a word of caution, please DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAME THE WINTER BEAST if you're feeling unwell or have an injury. You can always try again at another Beast event.

34, 49:04 AND
33, 49:10, WAKEFIELD

“We came down from Yorkshire for this. We’d never done anything like it before but we really enjoyed it. The water wasn’t so bad, but we had a job getting out of it.”

The Beast RacersDAN WAPLINGTON, 37, NOTTINGHAM, 57:59,

“It was quite an experience trying to make your way up and down those slippery hills.

And it’s pretty entertaining watching other people fall over while you’re running! I’d do it again.”

The Beast RacersANNIE DUQUEMIN, 53, SOUTHWELL, NOTTS, 56:35,

“Bloody hard!I spectated last year and thought it didn’t look too bad - but it really is! I didn’t find the jumps or the water that hard, but the hills really got to your legs.”
